The school counseling program is designed to meet as fully as possible the needs and interests of the student. Classroom Activities are specifically tailored to address career exploration, preparation for college admission, and preparation for entering the work force. Parents may notify the counseling department in writing if they do not want their child to participate in the personal/social counseling program. We are here to help.

School Counseling Philosophy
The School Counseling Department believes in the uniqueness of each person and is committed to responding to each individual’s special qualities and needs. Counselors recognize each student as a whole person with personal, social, academic, and career goals, including the development of a realistic and positive self-concept; the ability to develop significant relationships with others; the learning of decision making and coping skills; and the acquisition of appropriate academic and vocational/technical knowledge necessary for becoming a responsible, contributing member of society. Because the successful completion of these adolescent developmental tasks has become increasingly complicated in our modern society, the counseling department believes that cooperation among counselors, teachers, parents, administrators, and the community is essential to helping each student reach his or her full potential. The department is committed to that spirit of cooperation and to the program development for the benefit of each individual student. The counselors follow the Ethical Standards for School Counselors as developed by the American School Counselor Association.
